54 – Seven Stars Steps

Li Chuandao was visibly stunned. He then laughed heartily, and tears welled up in his eyes.

“Good! My good disciple! The Heavens have pity on me! When I am at death’s door, they sent me such a good disciple! Ha-ha-ha!”

Li Chuandao looks very happy, his face flushed.

“My good disciple, get up quickly.”

Li Chuandao hurriedly helped Fang Yi up, his eyes filled with appreciation.

“For you to take me as your master, I am already very happy. As for revenge, remember not to bite off more than you can chew.” Li Chuandao instructed.

Fang Yi nodded. “Rest assured, master. I’m not a reckless character.”

“That’s good then, that’s good then.”

Li Chuandao nodded repeatedly, then said, “One more thing, my wife…, forget it.”

Li Chuandao trailed off. Evidently, there is something he can’t speak about.

In fact, after listening to his master’s story to the end, Fang Yi was quite curious. Why wasn’t his master’s wife mentioned later in the story?

When Xu Zhengde took out the writing, if his master’s wife had stepped in and given ad explanation, things would likely not have played out like this.

But his master’s wife didn’t step in.

Aware that his master probably didn’t want others to know about certain things, Fang Yi didn’t probe.

At this time, Li Chuandao walked up to the Sublimation Cauldron, then looked at Fang Yi and said, “Open it.”

Although Fang Yi was puzzled, but he still carefully opened the lid of the Sublimation Cauldron.

Suddenly, an intense medicinal aroma, which could make people energize, came from the Sublimation Cauldron.

“What pill is this?”

Fang Yi was startled, watching Li Chuandao take out a pill the size of a cherry from the cauldron. Set off against the fire, the pill glistened, emitting a strange aroma.

“This is a Ground Pill! It’s good for you, take it!” Li Chuandao handed it to Fang Yi.

Fang Yi nodded and directly swallowed it.

Although he didn’t know what the Ground Pill is, but judging by its fragrance, it must be remarkable.

The pill went down the throat and entered the abdomen, and then instantly turned into a huge mass of energy.

Fang Yi was shocked, then hurriedly sat cross-legged and started cultivating.

The energy was extremely domineering. As if a stampede of myriad beasts, it rampaged in Fang Yi’s body.

In the spiritual sea, Fang Yi urged the seven spiritual qi vortices to absorb the energy, and their revolution speed rose.

The seven qi vortices reached their limit at a speed visible to the naked eye.

However, only half of the energy was consumed.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

No longer able to bear it, the spiritual qi vortices burst, then recombined.

8th layer Spiritual Sea!

The Ground Pill prompted Fang Yi to directly break through to the 8th layer Spiritual Sea from the mid-stage 7th layer Spiritual Sea, and his cultivation base was still climbing.

When his cultivation base reached the mid-stage 8th layer Spiritual Sea, only then was the energy completely assimilated.

Fang Yi was ecstatic.

He clenched his fist slightly, his bones cracked, and an unprecedented sense of strength sprung up.

“Not bad! My good disciple, let me take a good look at you.”

Li Chuandao stared at Fang Yi intently, a look of gratification in his eyes.

Suddenly, his lips quivered, black blood oozed out of a corner of his mouth, and his body swayed.

“Master, what’s wrong with you?”

Greatly alarmed, Fang Yi hurriedly supported Li Chuandao and asked in confusion.

At this moment, Li Chuandao was extremely weak, obviously already at death’s door.

“My good disciple, don’t worry. I swallowed the poison pill that was stored in my mouth.”

It turns out that when he escaped from the dungeon half a year ago, Li Chuandao made up his mind never to return to the dungeon again. He thus kept a poison pill in his mouth at all times. If he were caught, he would rather commit suicide.

For Li Chuandao to fear the torture he was subjected to in the dungeon to such an extent, it must have been really inhumane.

“Master, how can you be this foolish? This is Qinghe County. I was going to take you away. Why did you swallow the poison pill?”

Fang Yi couldn’t understand why his master, who had held on for so long, would die voluntarily at this time.

“My good disciple, there’s no need to be sad. After hearing my story, you should know that death is a kind of liberation for me. For so many years, I bitterly persisted because I couldn’t give up, because I had concerns.”

“But now I don’t have any concerns, all thanks to you. I can tell that you are a person who values relationships, that you will help me accomplish everything I asked of you. However, keep this in mind: you mustn’t overexert yourself.”

“Master, I understand. I will surely find your son.”

“I will remember your words. I will set foot in the Shendan Sect one day to seek justice for you and wash away your hatred with blood, master.”

Fang Yi bellowed, the rims of his eyes wet.

“Good! My good disciple! It’s such a pity that I didn’t meet you earlier. But… but I’m still very happy. I’m ha… I’m happy I met you before dying…”

By the time Li Chuandao finished speaking, he was already dead.

However, there was no expression of pain on his face. There was only peace and gratification.

Fang Yi tightly hugged Li Chuandao, this master of his, whom he has known for less than half a day.

Although Fang Yi was aware that no matter who entered the cave, his master was going to hand everything to them, but from the look in his master’s eyes, he could tell that the other party really liked him.

Master was right. For me to come here at this time, this must be fate.

From amid the vast sea of people in the world, being neither early nor late, he came here at precisely this time.

Thinking of his master’s last words, Fang Yi was also glad he crossed paths with his master.

After a moment, Fang Yi slowly stood up.

He originally intended to take away his master’s body and bury him in an appropriate place. But after thinking it through, he ultimately gave up this idea.

Even if he took away his master’s body. In the end, he would still take the body to the Shendan Sect one day in the future.

After burying his master, Fang Yi heavily knocked his head against the ground several times and then prepared to go out.

At this time, he suddenly remembered that he forgot to ask his master about the formation placed on the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain.

Subconsciously, he thought of the Shendan Secret Record, then promptly took it out and flipped through it.

The Shendan Secret Record is the alchemy secret record of the Shendan Sect, and it must not leave the sect. It contains knacks and secrets regarding alchemy, as well as various pill recipes, medicinal ingredient records, and even some formations. After all, alchemy often needs the assistance of formations.

In the blank parts of the secret record, there are some experiences and insights written down, which are evidently the results of Li Chuandao’s blood, sweat, and tears.

Fang Yi looked with great interest, feeling eager to give it a try. But now is obviously not the time to concoct pills.

Fang Yi quickly flipped through it.

Eventually, his eyes lit up. He found the formation that was placed on the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain.

He examined it carefully.

The formation is called the Big Dipper Labyrinthine Formation and is a trap formation. After the formation is deployed, it will be operational until the next full moon night and then dissipate.

Fang Yi calculated and realized that there are still three or four days before the next full moon.

Fortunately, there is a footwork, called the Seven Stars Steps, recorded in the secret record, as well.

As long as one learns this footwork, one can travel freely in the formation. The bandits of the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain have evidently cultivated this footwork.

Fang Yi started cultivating this footwork at once.

53 – I Will Wash Away Your Hatred With Blood

After a long time, Li Chuandao seemed to have calmed down. He then went on to say.

“Maybe because it’s been too long, but Xu Zhengde became complacent. Or maybe he didn’t expect anyone to remember me anymore. Even I thought I would die of old age in the dungeon. But half a year ago, a follower rescued me.”

“When I left the dungeon, I couldn’t believe I could see the sun again.”

“But what could I do? My followers were killed by Xu Zhengde back then.”

“However, the only thing I’m thankful about is that my son was sent away by my followers back then.”

In Li Chuandao’s eyes, Fang Yi saw a blankness.

He has been locked up for ten years, and his spiritual sea has been crippled — what could he do?

Take revenge? That’s but a pipe dream.

Then should he forget about revenge?

But there’s no way anyone would accept it.

“I decided to take revenge. Although I knew it was impossible, but I had to try. Although my spiritual sea was crippled, but I still had my ability to concoct pills.”

“I wanted to grow my own power, a power strong enough to contend against Xu Zhengde’s power. But this was something impossible to achieve under Xu Zhengde’s nose. So I went through untold hardships and came here.”

“Near the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain, I took over the lair of small-time mountain bandits and found some ordinary people. I taught them how to cultivate and gave them pills. Thanks to my guidance, their strength improved by leaps and bounds.”

Upon hearing this, Fang Yi looked at Li Chuandao in alarm.

Although he didn’t know how strong the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain’s power was. But, to be able to compel the three great sects to join forces, it mustn’t be weak.

However, this power was just a bunch of mountain bandits and ordinary people six months ago. Fang Yi had difficulty believing this.

If the disciples of the three great sects learned this, they would likely be ashamed of their own accomplishments.

Such a thing is simply unheard of.

Was it all thanks to his pills?

At the moment, Fang Yi was getting restless inside.

“However, the strength they gained made their egos swell. Coupled with the mountain bandits’ nature — whether it’s burning, killing, or looting, they shirk from no evil deeds.”

“Gradually, I began to lose control over these people. I regret that I was blinded by hatred and chose these people. Even if they become powerful in the future, they won’t help me take my revenge.”

“As a result, I concocted a pill to poison these people. But I underestimated them. They ended up catching wind of it.”

“However, they didn’t kill me. They wanted me to continue to concoct pills for them and thus locked me in this cave.”

With that, Li Chuandao released a long sight. The whole person seems to have relaxed somewhat.

Fang Yi looked at the miserable-looking old man in front of him. He was silent for a long time, his heart very heavy.

On the other hand, Li Chuandao himself was much calmer and smiled slightly.

“Young man, this is my story. I recounted it to you in the hopes that you will give me a helping hand.”

“Senior, feel free to speak.”

Fang Yi said respectfully.

Although the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain’s bandits were raised by Li Chuandao, but Fang Yi could not bear any disrespect toward the other party.

“I hope you can help me find my son, and then give this letter to him. His name is Li Chengye. He and you are of similar age.”

As he spoke, Li Chuandao took out an envelope and handed it to Fang Yi.

“Alright! I will do my best to find him.” Fang Yi took the envelope and uttered with conviction.

“Thank you.”

Li Chuandao smiled gratifiedly and then took out a yellowed manual.

“This is the Shendan Sect’s Shendan Secret Record, as well as my life’s insights and experiences. I shall give it to you. As for how much you can glean from it, that is up to you.”

Fang Yi was agitated.

It’s no wonder. Such a precious thing, he momentarily didn’t know whether he should accept it or not.

Li Chuandao just smiled lightly, unconcerned. He then looked at the simple, unadorned cauldron in the middle of the cave.

“There’s still the Sublimation Cauldron. You can also have it.”

Fang Yi was stupefied. He looked at Li Chuandao, then looked at the Sublimation Cauldron, a shade of disbelief in his eyes.

“This… this is the Shendan Sect’s sect protection treasure Sublimation Cauldron?”

Although he doesn’t know how precious the Sublimation Cauldron is, but as a sect protection treasure, it can’t be a simple object. Besides, from the fact that Xu Zhengde kept Li Chuandao for an entire decade in order to obtain this cauldron, it can be seen how much he valued the Sublimation Cauldron.

However, Li Chuandao placed such a precious treasure here haphazardly.

“Weren’t you afraid that those people would snatch it away from you?” Fang Yi asked curiously.

“They?” Li Chuandao smiled sarcastically.

“With their insight, they can’t tell that this cauldron is extraordinary.”

Fang Yi nodded with a wry smile. Indeed, he couldn’t tell either.

However, if Xu Zhengde knew that the Sublimation Cauldron he had been searching for was placed haphazardly like this, what would he think? He would probably feel like spitting out blood.

“Sublimation, turning something foul and rotten into something rare and sublime. If the Sublimation Cauldron is used to concoct pills, the impurities in the pills will be completely removed.” Li Chuandao explained.

Fang Yi was struck dumb. This thing is amazing.

Although he hasn’t concocted pills before, but he still knows a thing or two about the subject.

Pills are divided into four grades: low grade, mid grade, high grade, and top grade. This division is made in accordance with the impurities pills contain.

Theoretically, there is also a fifth grade, that is, the perfect pill, without impurities. But this is only in theory.

In reality, no matter how formidable an alchemist is or how good the materials are, it is impossible to eliminate all impurities during the concoction process.

But Li Chuandao surprisingly claimed that the Sublimation Cauldron can completely eliminate impurities. What does this mean? It means that every pill concocted by the Sublimation Cauldron is perfect.

This is simply inconceivable.

The skill of an alchemist is measured by the quantity of impurities there are in the pills they concoct.

The same is true for measuring the quality of a pill.

With the Sublimation Cauldron, Fang Yi will become an alchemy grandmaster in one fell swoop. Of course, this is under the premise that he learns alchemy. The Sublimation Cauldron only removes impurities.

“Senior, this is too precious. I can’t accept it.”

Fang Yi said sincerely.

Before he knew the cauldron’s effect, he didn’t feel it. But now that he knows, he immediately felt that this gift is too precious for him to accept.

Although the Sublimation Cauldron made him restless, but Fang Yi is not a greedy character. He won’t accept an undeserved reward.

He didn’t do anything. He just promised to look for the other party’s son. And seeing how many people there are in the world, he might not be able to find the other party’s son.

Li Chuandao shook his head and said lightly, “Young man, do you think this thing is still of use to me?”

“I’m running out of time. For you to come here at this time, this is fate. If you don’t accept it, the Sublimation Cauldron will be buried here.”

“Fine, I’ll take it!”

Apparently having made a decision, Fang Yi nodded heavily.

“Since I have accepted the Sublimation Cauldron and the Shendan Secret Record, then I shall take you as my teacher. I will pick up the baton and wash away your hatred with blood.”

With that, Fang Yi knelt down heavily and knocked his head against the ground three times.

“Disciple Fang Yi pays respects to master.”

52 – Sect Master Of The Shendan Sect

The old man’s tone was flat, as if it was no big deal.

However, the words sounded like thunder in Fang Yi’s ears.

“What? The sect master of the Shendan Sect?”

Fang Yi looked at the old man in horror, his eyes full of disbelief.

He could never have imagined that the feeble old man in front of him is the sect master of the Shendan Sect, especially when he juxtaposed him with the image of his master, Lin Qianhe, who is also a sect master, that popped up in his mind. There’s no comparison.

The old man was in no hurry to speak, as if to allow Fang Yi to digest the shocking fact.

“Are you really the sect master of the Shendan Sect? The way you are? Looking at you…”

Fang Yi stopped here, but the implication was unmistakable.

Judging by his appearance, the old man could hardly pass for a beggar, let alone the sect master of the Shendan Sect.

How could such a figure fall so low?

On the old man’s face, a wry smile sprouted. The smile was uglier than crying.

“Young man, why don’t I tell you a story! Following which, I will ask you for a favor. Whether you agree to it or not, I will transmit the corpus of alchemy I have learned to you.”

Fang Yi frowned, then nodded.

Although he doesn’t know what the old man will ask of him, but since the other party will transmit the corpus of his alchemy, then as long as it’s within his capability, he will fulfill the other party’s request.

“Twenty years ago, the Shendan Sect produced two alchemy geniuses with exceptional talent. One of them was Xu Zhengde, while the other one was me.”

The old man slowly recounted his tale.

From his words, Fang Yi learned that the old man is called Li Chuandao. Twenty years ago, he was regarded as one of the two prodigies of the Shendan Sect. The other prodigy was Xu Zhengde. Although the relationship between the two disciple brothers wasn’t good, but it wasn’t bad either.

The then sect master of the Shendan Sect wanted to betroth his only daughter to one of the two and have him take the position of sect master in the future.

But both disciples were excellent. For a period of time, he didn’t know how to choose. His daughter also had a good impression of the two.

He finally came up with a way to resolve the situation. He gave the choice to the two disciples, wanting to see who cared more about his daughter.

Xu Zhengde was smart. He realized that this was the sect master’s test and thus, without hesitation, chose the daughter of the sect master and gave up the position of sect master.

The sect master of the Shendan Sect was very satisfied with Xu Zhengde at that time. But his play didn’t stop there. He wanted to see how the two would conduct themselves next.

As such, the next day, Xu Zhengde was married to the sect master’s daughter, while Li Chuandao became the junior sect master of the Shendan Sect.

The sect master originally planned to find an opportunity to remove Li Chuandao from the position of junior sect master and replace him with Xu Zhengde, thus ending this play. He even wrote it down.

Xu Zhengde was aware of this, so the two disciple brothers had a harmonious relationship.

But Li Chuandao, who was an honest guy, didn’t know of it. As the junior sect master, he was always diligent and methodical. He gained an excellent reputation in the sect, to the point that even many sect elders spoke highly of him.

The sect master of the Shendan Sect couldn’t find an excuse to remove him from his position.

But as time went on, the sect master grew more and more satisfied with Li Chuandao’s performance, feeling that things are fine as they are. With the sect peaceful and harmonious, there was no need to insist on having his son-in-law becoming the sect master.

Besides, while Li Chuandao was doing things diligently, Xu Zhengde may not be as good as him.

In that case, it would be better to leave things as they are.

Xu Zhengde soon learned about the sect master’s thoughts. In his anger, he went to question the sect master.

At this time, the sect master finally learned that Xu Zhengde had been after the position of sect master all along. The reason why he chose the sect master’s daughter was because he had seen through the other party’s ruse.

The sect master was filled with regret, feeling that he has misjudged the other party.

Xu Zhengde, on the other hand, was furious and felt cheated.

Master and disciple ended up fighting. As the sect master was already getting on in age, he was no match for Xu Zhengde. The outcome could well be imagined.

When Li Chuandao reached this point, he paused for a moment, and then went on to say.

“After this incident, master expelled Xu Zhengde from the sect and remarried junior disciple sister to me. But master feared scandal. As such, he didn’t make this public. Therefore, others didn’t know of this. They just thought that something happened to Xu Zhengde.”

“Due to the severe injuries, master died not long after.”

Fang Yi sighed as he listened.

But he didn’t interrupt the old man, because the story was clearly not over yet.

“After that, I and junior disciple sister were very happy together, while the Shendan Sect prospered. I thought this matter was over. But ten years ago, Xu Zhengde suddenly came back.”

Li Chuandao’s voice continued to ring. When he spoke of his junior disciple sister, a happy smile welled up on his face.

However, when he mentioned Xu Zhengde, he greeted his teeth.

When he came back, Xu Zhengde claimed the sect master discovered that Li Chuandao was a devious character and wanted to remove him from the position of junior sect master, ending up being killed by Li Chuandao. But as luck would have it, Xu Zhengde bumped into Li Chuandao and almost lost his life. He had no choice but to run to foreign lands.

Due to the incident involving Xu Zhengde, the sect master of the Shendan Sect hadn’t been announced.

As such, this statement made many people suspicious.

After all, since Xu Zhengde was an ideal son-in-law of the sect master back in the day, this claim did have some weight to it.

However, most people believed Li Chuandao.

But then Xu Zhengde took out a writing of the sect master, clearly stating his intention to remove Li Chuandao from the position of junior sect master and replaced him with Xu Zhengde.

The elders confirmed that the handwriting of the said writing belonged to the sect master.

When this came out, the whole Shendan Sect fell into chaos.

Xu Zhengde took this opportunity to challenge Li Chuandao. With pressure mounting from all sides, Li Chuandao had no choice but to accept the challenge.

In the end, Li Chuandao was defeated and became Xu Zhengde’s prisoner, and the latter successfully became the sect master of Shendan Sect.

When Li Chuandao spoke of this, his eyes were filled with endless hatred.

Fang Yi showed a shade of sympathy.

After being vilified in such a manner, there was no way Li Chuandao wouldn’t be resentful. But what could he do about it?

“In order to get the sect protection treasure — Sublimation Cauldron — of the Shendan Sect, Xu Zhengde didn’t kill me. He crippled my spiritual sea and locked me in a dark dungeon. He tortured me for an entire decade.”

Li Chuandao appeared to have uttered the last couple of phrases by drawing all the strength in his body. As he recalled the torture he was subjected to for a decade, he couldn’t help shivering.

Fang Yi’s mood soured in an instant.

He can’t imagine how Li Chuandao endured ten years of torture.

Fang Yi didn’t say anything; he didn’t know what to say. No words of comfort could make the other party feel better.

Li Chuandao didn’t speak either, as if he exhausted his energy.

The cave became quiet.

Temple of Creation – 51

51 – Mysterious Old Man

Suddenly, Fang Yi moved, ignoring all the attacks.

Snow Falls and Leaves no Trace!

The sword — as blue as the ocean — soared, and endless coldness surged and appeared to freeze the air around.

The multiple Sun Ligang seemed to be locked in place.

Then they dissipated into puffs of smoke. Above Fang Yi, a sword tip instantly condensed. It was Sun Ligang’s real body.

At the moment, he had a shocked look on his face, as if he had never expected Fang Yi to see through his real body and hit him.

Although the sword strike basically dealt him no damage, but he still felt extremely humiliated and angry.

Fang Yi wasn’t feeling peachy either.

When his strike hit Sun Ligang, he was also stabbed by Sun Ligang’s sword.

Run. If I don’t run now, then when?

This was the only thought Fang Yi had at the moment.

With the help of the sword’s rebound, as if a bullet, he turned into a stream of light and darted away.

“There’s nowhere for you to run!”

Sun Ligang instantly snapped out of the shock and hurriedly gave chase, accompanied by majestic sword qi.

Within a few moments, Fang Yi went through a few dangerous situations, yet he still couldn’t throw off Sun Ligang.

To his despair, a cliff suddenly appeared ahead of him.

Am I really doomed to die here today?

While Fang Yi despaired, Sun Ligang’s sword qi arrived and struck down.

Boom!

Fang Yi immediately fell off the cliff like a kite with its string cut.

“Sun Ligang, if I survive, I will tear you to pieces one day.” Fang Yi’s voice came from afar.

“Humph! Dream on!”

At the edge of the cliff, while covering the wound on his chest with a hand, Sun Ligang spoke sarcastically.

At the thought that he was injured by a 7th layer Spiritual Sea nobody, a rage rose inside him. Fortunately, the other party is done for. After being so seriously injured and falling off the cliff, he doesn’t believe that the other party can survive.

Even Fang Yi probably doesn’t think he can survive.

There was wind blowing next to his ears. Fang Yi only felt himself fall sharply.

At the moment, he can do nothing but wait for death.

However, as if the cliff had no bottom, he kept falling.

“This isn’t right. With my falling speed, I should have hit the ground already. What’s going on?”

Fang Yi found that something was wrong. The Ten Thousand Jun Mountain wasn’t that high.

Is this an illusion formed by the formation? Is the cliff fake?

Fang Yi felt it to be possible and was overjoyed. But what do I do now?

Subconsciously, he looked around, trying to find something, anything. But the surrounding space was completely empty.

Then, however, he sighted a slight fire a distance away.

That can’t be right. I’m falling, so how can there be fire here? So I am not falling? Everything is an illusion?

If that is the case, then how do I get out of here?

Fang Yi wrinkled his eyebrows.

All of a sudden, he thought of the formation at the bamboo cottage, thought of how Ji Wumeng guided him.

He closed his eyes and cleared all distracting thoughts, emptying his mind.

After a while, a faint fire pulsated in front of his mind’s eye.

By following the fire, he took one step after another.

Until a weak, aged voice sounded.

“Young man, you’re pretty good.”

Fang Yi was taken aback, then opened his eyes.

He found himself in a dark, damp cave, with a simple, unadorned cauldron in the middle, which seems to be refining something. Behind the cauldron, there was an old man with disheveled hair, looking extremely weak, as if he could die at any time.

The old man was the one who spoke. At the moment, he is looking at Fang Yi excitedly.

“Who are you? You led me here?”

The old man shook his head, “You came here by yourself.”

“I came by myself?”

Fang Yi was confused. He only knew that he had followed a fire. Was the fire the one from the cauldron?

“Who are you? Why are you here alone?”

The old man smiled, the smile clearly distorted by extreme pain.

“Young man, before I answer your questions, can you answer a question of mine first?”

“Ask away!”

Fang Yi nodded, then swallowed several pills. His injuries were quite severe. At this time, he was already close to his limit.

“Young man, you seem to be seriously injured. I have a pill here. I believe it’s more useful than the ones you have.”

The old man smiled and handed over a pill.

Fang Yi was surprised and looked at the old man warily, but then saw the other party smile kindly.

After thinking for a moment, Fang Yi took the pill, put it below his nose, and smelled it.

A strange medicinal smell surge immediately, and he instantly felt his vital energy flow unobstructed.

This! Fang Yi was stunned. The pill was really magical. Just smelling it had such an effect. It was really something great.

If it were some other time, Fang Yi wouldn’t accept something so precious for no reason.

At this moment, however, he is in no condition to mind such things.

After saying thanks, Fang Yi directly swallowed the pill.

Suddenly, a sweet aroma surged in his throat and turned into a warm current that spread all over his body. The intense pain he felt instantly decreased by more than half. What’s more, his wounds actually began to heal.

“What an awesome pill!”

Fang Yi couldn’t help but praise.

The old man seemed unconcerned. He just smiled faintly.

“Thank you for the pill. If there’s anything I can help you with, feel free to tell me. As long as it’s within my capability, I will try my best to help you, senior.”

The old man nodded with satisfaction.

“Are you one of the disciples of the three great sects who came to suppress the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain?!”

“I am. I’m Fang Yi of the Taixuan Sect.” Fang Yi answered truthfully.

Although the other party is on the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain, is likely to be one of the targets of the suppression mission, but seeing as he received a magical pill, he can’t conceal his identity from the other party.

“It’s good that you have come. I am responsible for this all.”

The old man looked regretful, a pained expression on his face.

Fang Yi was startled. Unable to wrap his head around the old man’s words, he looked at the other party blankly.

The old man seemed to have no intention of explaining himself, looking like he’s reminiscing.

After a moment, he slowly looked at Fang Yi.

“Young man, do you want to learn alchemy and become an alchemy great master?”

Fang Yi was taken aback. He then thought of the pill he consumed. If he could concoct such pills, he wouldn’t have to fear serious injuries in the future.

Moreover, he is in urgent need of cultivation pills.

Fang Yi nodded subconsciously.

“Will I be able to concoct the pill I just consumed?”

The old man smiled softly, “You’ll be able to concoct even better pills.”

“Have you heard of the Shendan Sect?”

“The Shendan Sect?” Fang Yi nodded.

Linjian County’s Shendan Sect is proficient in pill concoction; he heard of it before. Was the pill he consumed from the Shendan Sect? No wonder.

But how come a pill of the Shendan Sect has appeared here?

What is the relationship between this old man and the Shendan sect?

However, when he heard the old man’s following words, Fang Yi’s chin almost hit the ground.

“In fact, I am the former sect master of the Shendan Sect.”

  ……

Temple of Creation – 50

50 – Crisis

Fang Yi felt a current of air assault the back of his head and was immediately alarmed.

Not good!

With no time to turn around, he fell backward in a hurry, and the sword brushed past the tip of his nose.

“Scoundrel, go to hell.”

Song Zhijie quickly reacted and brandished his sword.

At this time, he was furious. He, an 11th layer Spiritual Sea martial practitioner, was subjected to two surprise attacks, and they almost succeeded. Unsurprisingly, this made him angry.

Although he’s not to blame, since the opponent’s timing was really tricky, but this wounded his pride as an expert nonetheless.

Song Zhijie’s sword split the fog and hit the opponent.

Everyone’s gazes immediately gathered on the opponent.

But, at this time, another sword suddenly emerged from the side and stabbed toward Zhong Lingxiu.

“Be careful!”

Zhong Lingxiu turned pale from fright and stepped back repeatedly. She then slipped and rolled downward, plunging into the fog.

Seeing that his companion died, the owner of the second sword retreated quickly.

“Damn it. You two wait here. I’ll go down and look for her.”

With that, Song Zhijie quickly gave chase, leaving Fang Yi and Sun Ligang alone.

“Junior Disciple Brother Fang, do you think Senior Disciple Brother Song will be able to find Junior Disciple Sister Zhong?” Sun Ligang asked thoughtfully.

Fang Yi shook his head. “With his speed, he should be able to. But I reckon it’s unlikely he will find her here.”

Song Zhijie’s speed was very fast, much faster than Zhong Lingxiu’s rolling speed. It shouldn’t be difficult for him to catch up to her. But it is very unlikely the two will be able to meet.

“I guess so.” Sun Ligang’s voice suddenly became a little strange.

“Junior Disciple Brother Fang, behind you.”

Suddenly, Sun Ligang said hurriedly.

Fang Yi subconsciously turned around. Yet he felt that something was wrong.

Thwump!

The next moment, Fang Yi felt a stabbing pain from his back. He was stabbed by a sword.

The person holding the sword was Sun Ligang.

At this time, Sun Ligang sneered, a cold flash in his eyes.

Fang Yi stepped back repeatedly and pressed hid hand against the wound. If it were not for the soft armor, the sword might have claimed his life. The other party evidently intended to kill him with one blow.

But there are no grievances between Fang Yi and the other party, so why would he do this?

Subconsciously, Fang Yi thought of Elder Qin.

It seems that he was too careless.

“What benefits did Elder Qin promise you?”

“You want to know? Go ask Yama [1]!” Sun Ligang smiled coldly and approached slowly.

Fang Yi retreated continuously, feeling extremely anxious. The other party’s cultivation base has reached the 10th layer Spiritual Sea. Even if he were in his top condition, he was still not a match for the other party, not to mention that he’s injured right now.

What now?

Let’s go all out.

Fang Yi made up his mind. With the dense fog shrouding this place, even though he stood no chance of beating the opponent, he might still be able to escape with his life.

“Sun Ligang, do you think you can kill me?”

“He-he, I’ll give it a go!”

Sun Ligang sneered and swung his sword, and a majestic sword qi ejected out and slashed at Fang Yi.

The sword seemed to struck out with the momentum of a clap of thunder.

Fang Yi’s complexion immediately changed greatly. He wanted to dodge. However, the surrounding air seemed to be locked by the sword qi, restraining his movement.

So this is the might of a 10th layer martial practitioner?

A huge gap in realm is indeed insurmountable. If it were an ordinary 7th layer Spiritual Sea martial practitioner in Fang Yi’s place, they would likely have died on the spot.

Fang Yi was obviously no ordinary 7th layer Spiritual Sea martial practitioner.

After all, he comprehended sword intent.

“Break!”

Fang Yi shouted, and the blue sword, as if an endless, deep sea, in his hand ejected out, bone-piercing coldness swept the earth, and white frost spread with Fang Yi as the core.

Subjected to the coldness, vast white fog condensed into snowflakes flying about.

Snow fell!

Kaboom!

Two domineering sword qi instantly collided with each other, and strands of sword qi darted about like a myriad of arrows.

“Snow?”

“Sword intent! It’s unexpectedly sword intent. You actually comprehended sword intent.”

Sun Ligang was shocked and narrowed his eyes, and his pupils contracted sharply, looking like he had seen a ghost.

He couldn’t believe that sword intent would be manifested by a 7th layer Spiritual Sea martial practitioner. He, whose cultivation base has reached 10th layer Spiritual Sea, still hasn’t comprehended sword intent. This is simply incredibly.

He can’t accept it. His murderous intent flared up.

“Fang Yi, you gave me quite the surprise! Now I have to kill you even more! Die!”

With that, he darted out like an arrow, and his sword turned into a stream of light with unstoppable momentum.

Fang Yi’s complexion changed dramatically, and he retreated rapidly.

Nevertheless, in the face of this sword strike, he seemed to feel the aura of death.

“Seal!”

Fang Yi gritted his teeth.

With a gentle stroke of his sword, vast sword qi, as if churning waves, surged.

This is the 4th tier martial skill Nine Layer Waves.

At this moment, Fang Yi has cultivated the Nine Layer Waves to four waves.

The four waves, coupled with ice sword intent, surged as if four icebergs.

“Parlor tricks. Break.”

Sun Ligang sneered, and his sword collided with the qi waves.

Boom!

The first qi wave disintegrated in an instant.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The subsequent three qi waves were smashed one by one. The four waves couldn’t withstand Sun Ligang’s tyrannical attack.

Klshuk!

After smashing the qi waves, momentum unbroken, the sword stabbed Fang Yi.

Fang Yi felt a stabbing pain, his face ghastly white.

The strike just now was already the strongest attack he could unleash, yet he still couldn’t stop the other party’s attack.

Am I going to die here today?

For the first time, Fang Yi felt like death was around the corner.

Run!

This was Fang Yi’s sole thought at the moment.

All of a sudden, Fang Yi moved, and the seven spiritual qi vortices in his spiritual sea shook. He moved as fast as a bolt of lightning and darted away.

“You want to run? Fat chance.”

Sun Ligang barked and broke out with a speed faster than that of Fang Yi, leaving afterimages in the air.

The afterimages not only did not disappear, but became more distinct. A number of Sun Ligang surrounded Fang Yi.

“What… what sort of martial skill is this?”

Fang Yi was stunned, unable to distinguish the real Sun Ligang apart from the false.

Am I really going to die here?

A shade of despair sprouted on Fang Yi’s face.

Upon seeing Fang Yi’s expression, the multiple Sun Ligang smiled complacently, “You won’t get the chance to learn what martial skill this is! Now let me send you to the afterlife!”

Kching!

The multiple Sun Ligang raised their swords at the same time, and dozens of swords formed a sword array and stabbed toward Fang Yi together.

The swords were about to cut down Fang Yi.

Temple of Creation – 49

49 – Surprise Attack

Fang Yi shook his head. Although he guessed that this was a formation, but when it came to breaking it, it was easier said than done.

Last time, he passed through the formation thanks to Ji Wumeng’s guidance.

The others were clearly disappointed, but they didn’t blame him. After all, formations were fairly unpopular.

“Don’t be discouraged. This formation may not be as magical as it seems. As long as we keep going up, we will eventually reach the top of the mountain.”

Song Zhijie contemplated for a moment, then spoke with certainty.

This is a possible solution. Instead of waiting to die, they might as well try it.

Although Fang Yi doesn’t think it will prove useful, but it’s better than doing nothing.

Besides, they may meet other teams along the way.

The four people set out again, heading upward.

Song Zhijie believed that although it was magical, the formation was mostly a kind of smokescreen. Since the destination of the group was the top of the mountain, then they must be able to meet other teams if they keep heading upward.

However, after walking for some time, the top of the mountain still hadn’t appeared. The path seemed to have no end.

“Not good. According to the distance we have walked, we should have reached the top already.”

“If things go on like this, I’m afraid our energy will be exhausted before we can get out of the fog.”

Sun Ligang warned at this time.

The four moved at a very fast speed and climbed upward, which is especially taxing.

Zhong Lingxiu, in particular, looked a little pale at this time. She was evidently approaching her limit.

Fang Yi, on the other hand, didn’t seem any different, which made him rise in Song Zhijie and Sun Ligang’s estimation.

“Is there no better way?” Song Zhijie asked.

“We can’t stay still and wait for death. Take pills and continue forward. Even if we can’t reach the top, we should find other teams as soon as possible.”

It’s not that Song Zhijie doesn’t know this. But at this moment, what else can they do?

The four proceeded forward.

Fang Yi looked at the tired Zhong Lingxiu and wanted to extend a hand to support her.

All of a sudden, a thought popped up in his mind. If someone attacked Zhong Lingxiu at this time…

“No, we can’t walk further. The people on this mountain are likely waiting for us to consume our energy.”

Swoosh!

However, before his words have fallen, a sword suddenly emerged in the fog and stabbed toward Zhong Lingxiu.

This sword was extremely fast and went straight for her vital point, which clearly shows that it was premeditated.

“Be careful!”

Song Zhijie spoke urgently. However, he was at the forefront of the team and was too far away to save Zhong Lingxiu.

In a moment of desperation, he also stabbed with his sword.

Zhong Lingxiu turned pale from fright, her mind drawing a blank. She was too close and had no time to react.

The sword headed for Zhong Lingxiu’s heart.

Clang!

Suddenly, a blue sword blur appeared in front of Zhong Lingxiu without warning, less than half a cun [1] away from her, and blocked the sword stabbing at her heart.

Klshuk!

At the same time, Song Zhijie’s sword stabbed into the fog.

“Ah!” A groan sounded.

The sword that stabbed at Zhong Lingxiu instantly submerged in the fog and disappeared.

At this time, Song Zhijie stood guard in front of the others, a dignified look on his face, looking around vigilantly.

“Are you all right!” Sun Ligang asked.

“I’m fine. Thanks to Fang Yi.” Zhong Lingxiu uttered with trepidation, her eyes filled with gratitude.

Fang Yi just nodded, standing on guard.

However, there was no movement in the surroundings, as if the sword just now had been merely an illusion.

“What’s going on? Is he gone?” Sun Ligang asked, puzzled.

Song Zhijie nodded, “He was hit by my sword and should be hiding.”

“What a powerful formation. It seems that the suppression of the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain is doomed. I wonder how the other teams are faring.” A shade of worry began to sprout on Song Zhijie’s face.

Among the disciples who were dispatched by the Taixuan Sect, he possesses awesome combat power. But he still almost got had. If Fang Yi hadn’t blocked that sword at the critical moment, he might have lost a teammate. The other teams are likely to be in even worse straits.

“Fang Yi, you did great.”

Thinking of what just happened, Song Zhijie praised, gazing at Fang Yi with a smile.

Fang Yi smiled in response.

“Senior Disciple Brother Song, what do we do now?” Sun Ligang asked.

Song Zhijie looked at Zhong Lingxiu, who was still in shock, and paused, then said, “What Fang Yi said makes sense. If we continue to climb the mountain, we will probably just consume our energy in vain. Let’s take a rest first and recover our energy.”

Everyone nodded and performed breathing regulation.

At this time, the surrounding area is still full of fog.

“Senior Disciple Brother Song, if we can’t break the formation, will we be stuck here forever?”

Zhong Lingxiu asked carefully, a trace of worry suffused in her voice.

Sun Ligang looked at Song Zhijie involuntarily at this time. Evidently, he also wants to know the answer. If they are stuck here, things will be troublesome.

Song Zhijie furrowed his brow tightly at this question. He swept his three teammates with his eyes, yet saw that Fang Yi has a calm expression on his face.

“Fang Yi, you don’t seem to be worried. Do you have a way out of this predicament?” Song Zhijie asked curiously.

At first, he didn’t think much of Fang Yi. But now he asked the other party for advice.

That’s because until now, Fang Yi has been the calmest and most rational on the team. Even at this time, he is still calm and collected. He should have some idea of what to do.

To his disappointment, however, Fang Yi shook his head.

“Not really. However, the three great sects jointly dispatched disciples to suppress the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain. This is no small matter. If there is no news for three to five days, the sects will send people to investigate. At that time, everything will naturally be resolved.”

The other three couldn’t help nodding, and the tension on their faces dissipated by a lot.

“Yes! Fang Yi is right.” Song Zhijie said with a smile.

“So there’s no need to worry too much. Although this formation is magical, but it can only trap us temporarily. Nevertheless, we should be alert at all times, in case of surprise attacks.”

“Ah!”

At this time, a scream came from not far away. Someone was obviously attacked.

“There’s someone nearby. Let’s go and take a look. Everyone, keep up.”

Song Zhijie’s countenance changed. He then took the lead and looked for the source of the scream, followed by the other three.

However, when they reached the source, they only saw a bloodied body.

“It’s a disciple of the Taixuan Sect.” Sun Ligang examined the body and stated.

“Let’s take the body with us. We can’t leave him in the wilderness.” Song Zhijie said.

Sun Ligang nodded and put the body into his storage ring.

“From now on, the four of us should keep close together. It’s very easy to wander off here. If we are separated, we’ll be in great danger.” Song Zhijie said cautiously.

Aware that they’re in deep shit, the other three naturally had no objections.

“Ah!”

Suddenly, another scream sounded.

“Crap!” Song Zhijie cursed and rushed out.

But, at this time, a sword silently appeared behind the team.

[1] – cun, about 3.3 centimeters or 1.3 inches

Temple of Creation – 48

48 – Fog Formation

There was still time before midnight.

In the camp, the disciples gathered together with their respective teammates to get familiar with each other and discuss tonight’s course of action.

Fang Yi naturally was no exception.

“Tonight, you guys must stay close to me. Don’t run around. Otherwise, you may not only lose your life, but you might also drag down the team.”

The one who spoke was Song Zhijie. He seems rather gloomy, his tone filled with intense seriousness.

Within this team of four, he is the strongest and naturally has more say.

“Senior Disciple Brother Song, don’t worry, our team isn’t weak. Junior disciple brother and junior disciple sister won’t hold the team back.”

The one who replied was Sun Ligang, an obsequious smile on his face, looking like he was looking after Fang Yi and Zhong Lingxiu.

Fang Yi’s presence was considered to be a drain on the team’s strength.

Because of this, when the teams were arranged, he was specially assigned to the team with Song Zhijie, who is fairly strong, making it so that the strength of the teams was relatively even.

However, this made Song Zhijie somewhat displeased.

Fang Yi can understand it. After all, if it were him in the other party’s shoes, he would also be upset. After all, this is no different from babysitting.

“Don’t worry, Senior Disciple Brother Song. I won’t hold the team back.”

At this time, Zhong Lingxiu’s reply sounded. She is the only girl on the team. Her strength has reached the 8th layer Spiritual Sea, which isn’t bad.

“Mhm!”

Song Zhijie nodded, appearing to be quite satisfied with Zhong Lingxiu’s attitude.

As for Fang Yi, he didn’t reply.

“So you are Fang Yi? I heard Su Mingyue is being kind to you. In that case, you must have some outstanding quality. I hope you won’t disappoint me tomorrow.”

Song Zhijie swept Fang Yi with cold eyes, his tone containing a hint of derision.

With that, he ignored the others and closed his eyes.

Fang Yi smiled, not taking it to heart.

In this cruel world, it is normal for people with meager strength to be looked down upon.

Relatively speaking, Song Zhijie was already being pretty nice. After all, in order to avoid adversely affecting the team, he didn’t go hard on the other party.

“Don’t take it the wrong way. Senior Disciple Brother Song was just worrying about the team. Stay close to me tomorrow. I will look after you.” Sun Ligang smiled at this time and encouraged Fang Yi.

Fang Yi was surprised, then nodded.

When it comes to the goodwill of others, he naturally won’t ignore it.

As time went by, the atmosphere in the camp grew increasingly tense.

The Ten Thousand Jun Mountain stood tall and lofty.

Silver moonlight sprinkled down. Halfway up the mountain, faint fog began to emerge, growing thicker and thicker, until the whole mountain peak was completely shrouded in fog.

In the dense fog, there looms a black building.

Inside the building, there are three big guys with formidable auras standing in front of a crowd.

At this time, a man rushed in.

“Boss, people from the three great sects have begun their assault.”

“Humph, they can come, but I won’t let them go back.” The man in the middle of the three big guys barked coldly.

Despite facing the three great sects, he didn’t show any fear, but rather looked full of confidence.

Under the cover of night, Fang Yi followed the group. Unexpectedly, they didn’t encounter any ambush along the way.

They didn’t even see so much as a shadow.

“It seems that the enemy is gathered on the top of the mountain. Everyone, make sure to keep up. Don’t fall behind.” Song Zhijie warned.

Fang Yi felt a little uneasy.

If the people of the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain gather at the top of the mountain and wait for the people of the three great sects to surround them, they won’t be able to escape. Isn’t that tantamount to suicide?

Could it be that these people are aware that they will die and thus intend to gather their forces and fight to the death?

Fang Yi shook his head. He didn’t believe it. However, he couldn’t think of any other possibility. For the time being, he could only proceed forward.

Faint fog began to slowly fill the surroundings.

“Strange, how come there’s so much fog?”

Some people in the crowd were puzzled.

However, it is normal for fog to rise on mountains and in forests at night. Furthermore, there is nothing special about the faint fog, so the crowd didn’t pay it much attention.

However, as they got closer to the top of the mountain, the fog grew thicker.

The sounds in the surroundings seemed to fade.

“Hurry up, or we’ll fall behind.”

Song Zhijie urged, a look of doubt on his face.

The speed of their team wasn’t slow. He paid attention to Fang Yi and Zhong Lingxiu’s performance, which was better than he expected.

But then the voices of the rest of the group faded away, making him puzzled.

“Senior Disciple Brother Song, something smells fishy. There is something wrong with the fog.”

Sun Ligang evidently noticed that something was amiss. Even though their team was weaker, yet they should still be able to hear the voices of the rest of the group.

Among the four people, probably only Zhong Lingxiu still hasn’t detected the incongruity.

With Song Zhijie and Sun Ligang present, she just had to follow them. There was no need for her to concern herself with anything else.

As for Fang Yi, although he has some suspicion, but he can’t put his finger on it.

But then, he suddenly recalled the formation shrouding the bamboo cottage when he went to see Ji Wumeng last time.

Is this fog a formation?

Thinking of this possibility, Fang Yi immediately felt that things have gone awry.

If that is really the case, then this will be troublesome.

In a world where martial arts are popular, few study formations. In the entire Taixuan Sect, probably not a single person proficient in formations can be found.

Apart from Ji Wumeng, Fang Yi has never heard anyone talk about setting up formations before, let alone breaking them.

At the moment, Fang Yi only hopes that his hunch was wrong.

“Dammit!”

Song Zhijie cursed at this time, his expression unsightly.

“Listen up, stay close to me. Never leave my side. It’s easy to get lost here.”

The four people walked carefully in the thick fog.

It was quiet all around. The fog was getting thicker and thicker. At this time, visibility was less than five meters.

They walked for a while, feeling as if they have been walking in circles in the fog.

“Curses. The fog is getting denser and denser. What the hell is this place?” Sun Ligang grumbled at this time.

“Indeed! Senior Disciple Brother Song, are we trapped here?” Zhong Lingxiu agreed, obviously a little worried.

“Don’t worry, even if the fog can trap us, it will only be for a while. When the day breaks, it will naturally disperse.”

Song Zhijie spoke with assurance. He wasn’t worried about being trapped, but worried about not keeping up with the rest of the group.

Upon hearing this, Zhong Lingxiu was visibly relieved, nodding subconsciously.

However, Fang Yi shook his head at this time.

“I’m afraid it’s not that simple. There seems to be a formation set up on the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain. I’m afraid we’re trapped in the formation. I believe that even after the day breaks, the fog will not dissipate.”

Fang Yi didn’t want to make the others nervous. However, they must find a way to break the formation as soon as possible, or else there may be in danger.

“What did you say? A formation?”

The others were obviously surprised. They looked at each other, a look of worry in their eyes.

“Since you know this is a formation, do you know how to break it?” Song Zhijie asked hurriedly.

The other two looked at Fang Yi with expectant eyes.

Temple of Creation – 47

47 – Before The Fight

Time elapsed, and three days passed in a flash.

Today is the day when the disciples will proceed toward the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain. The Reincarnation Peak, on the square, the chosen disciples have gathered here.

Fang Yi was among them.

The outer sect will dispatch a total of 40 disciples, including two 12th layer Spiritual Sea powerhouses. Of the two, one is Feng Yiyi, and the other is Han Yuan, a lanky man with a friendly face.

There are also five or six 11th layer Spiritual Sea, with the rest ranging between 8th layer Spiritual Sea and 10th layer Spiritual Sea.

Only Fang Yi, who is at the 7th layer Spiritual Sea, is special.

In front of the square, Shui Rufeng swept the crowd with his eyes.

“For the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain’s suppression mission, Feng Yiyi will be the captain, while Han Yuan will be the deputy. Everyone must obey the arrangements made by these two.”

“Yes!” The crowd shouted in unison.

These two are the strongest individuals in the group. Naturally, no one has any objections.

“Very good!” Shui Rufeng nodded, appearing to be quite satisfied with everyone’s mental state.

“The Ten Thousand Jun Mountain’s force is by no means small, totaling roughly 60 to 70 people. But you don’t have to worry. The Lieyan Sect and the Wanjian Sect will also send disciples, about the same number as us. Therefore, we will have an overwhelming advantage in numbers.”

“But remember, try to avoid conflict with the disciples of the other two sects. If it’s unavoidable…”

Shui Rufeng paused here and swept the crowd with his cold eyes once more.

“Never forget, you represent the Taixuan Sect. You mustn’t disgrace the sect.”

“Yes!” The crowd responded in unison again.

The meaning behind his words is clear. If push comes to shove and conflict erupts, they must win. Otherwise, the sect will lose face. By then, when they come back, they will likely be punished.

The relationship between the three great sects is not as simple as it seems.

“Okay, go!”

Following Shui Rufeng’s shout, Feng Yiyi took the lead and headed out, followed by the rest.

The group gradually disappeared from the Reincarnation Peak’s square.

In a corner of the square, Qin Xinghai was gazing at the group in the distance, a sinister look on his face.

The Ten Thousand Jun Mountain is located far away from the Taixuan Sect. When going full throttle, it will take at least two days to reach the mountain.

However, seeing as everyone’s cultivation base is different and there’s still time before the agreed time with the other two sects, the group didn’t go fast. But instead proceeded at a leisurely pace, chatting merrily along the way.

Since Fang Yi had immersed himself in cultivation, he wasn’t very familiar with these people.

Furthermore, his cultivation base was the lowest. As such, except for Su Mingyue, everyone else ignored him.

Su Mingyue seems to be interested in getting close to him.

Fang Yi didn’t feel it at first. After a while, he realized that the others are looking in his direction. Ming Jianxin, in particular, has murderous intent in his eyes.

If it were not for the mission, Fang Yi had no doubt that the other party would fight him.

Fang Yi could only smile at this.

He didn’t think Su Mingyue was really interested in him. He believed that Su Mingyue wanted to use him as a shield and maybe take this as an opportunity to terminate her engagement.

Three days later, the party finally arrived near the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain.

The disciples of the other two sects have already arrived.

But Fang Yi didn’t see them.

The disciples of the three sects seemed to have a tacit understanding and didn’t gather together, but surrounded the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain from three directions respectively.

Perhaps these are the directions from which the three sects will attack, or perhaps this was to prevent conflict between the disciples of the three sects.

At night, the disciples of the Taixuan Sect gathered together.

Feng Yiyi cultivated with her eyes closed.

Everyone was obviously already used to the antics of this captain. Han Yuan was the one who issued orders until now, making him look more like a captain than the other party.

But Han Yuan seemed to have no complaints.

“We have met with the people in charge of the groups of the other two sects and decided to attack the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain tonight at midnight.” Han Yuan said carefully.

“Great. I’m tired of waiting.”

Someone in the crowd shouted. Everyone’s spirits surged.

“Senior Disciple Brother Han, why not attack during the day? Why did you guys choose to attack at night?” A disciple asked, puzzled.

The crowd was doubtful, feeling that such conduct is dishonorable.

Fang Yi didn’t think so. Whenever it’s most advantageous, it’s only natural to act at that time. He doesn’t have the pride of a disciple from a great sect.

“I understand what you guys are thinking. However, this time’s mission is quite difficult. The three great sects intend to catch every single individual and make an example out of them. Therefore, it was decided to attack at night.” Han Yuan explained.

The crowd spoke no more.

Qinghe County and its twelve cities are the backyard of the three great sects. There’s no way they will tolerate another force taking root in their backyard.

Next, Han Yuan briefly explained the situation on the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain.

According to him, it has been less than half a year since the said force appeared on the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain, yet it has developed at a rapid pace. It has reached the size of 70 to 80 people, all of whom are experts.

As far as it is known, it has three 12th layer Spiritual Sea powerhouses. There are many things still unknown about this force.

Furthermore, the members of this force are all strangers to the county. No one knows where they came from.

It is said that they have a magical pill, which can instantly upgrade their cultivation base and make their strength soar.

However, this pill appears to have an adverse side effect. When the pill is consumed, after half an incense stick of time is up, the user will lose all combat power.

When they heard this, the crowd couldn’t help but feel nervous.

If they encounter an opponent of similar strength and the other party takes this pill, won’t they be defeated in a flash?

Half an incense stick of time is enough to do many things.

Even if they encounter someone who is weaker, who knows what the outcome will be.

“Don’t fret about it. This pill may not be as magical as it purported to be, not to mention that we have many people.”

“Besides, the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain isn’t that strong. The reason why the three great sects haven’t erased it until now is because they intended to use it to temper their outer sect disciples. If we perform well this time, I believe there will be no lack of rewards once we return to the sect.

Han Yuan’s words were quite reasonable, so everyone couldn’t help nodding.

“For everyone’s safety, we will be divided into groups of four. Take care not to act alone.”

Everyone unanimously approved this decision.

While acting in a group of four, even if they come across one or two people who have taken this pill, they won’t have anything to fear.

It should be mentioned, Han Yuan has some talent when it comes to leading a group.

“This is a list of teams I and several Junior Disciple Brothers came up with. Everyone, take a look.”

At this time, Han Yuan took out a list of four-member teams.

Fang Yi looked over involuntarily and found his name on the list, together with three other names.

“Song Zhijie, 11th layer Spiritual Sea.”

“Sun Ligang, 10th layer Spiritual Sea.”

“Zhong Lingxiu, 8th layer Spiritual Sea.”

Probably to let everyone understand the strength of their teammates, the names are followed by cultivation bases.

The crowd took a rough look at the list and didn’t have any complaints.

The teams are composed of four people, and the strength of each team is more or less the same.

However, the four strongest people in the group were not divided into teams, but were left on their own, free to act as they see fit according to the situation.

This grouping is quite reasonable.

“Alright. Since no one has any objections, then let’s have a rest and raise our spirits, then defeat the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain in one fell swoop.”

Temple of Creation – 46

46 – Spare Him

“He-he, Ming Jianxin, who do you think you are? You think I will take out my storage ring just because you say so?”

Fang Yi laughed, laughing at Ming Jianxin’s ignorance.

It seems that he let the prestige that comes with the title of the three great freaks go to his head.

“You said I stole your Monkey Liquor. Are you a monkey?”

When they heard these words, the onlookers burst into laughter. At the same time, however, they broke out in a cold sweat in Fang Yi’s stead.

To offend Ming Jianxin in this way, that’s really unwise. This matter can no longer have a good conclusion.

“Fine! To look down on me like this, let’s see if you have the skill to justify such arrogance.”

Ming Jianxin was furious. When was the last time he suffered such humiliation?

As one of the three great freaks of the outer sect, he is used to outer sect disciples flattering him. Fang Yi, however, not only stole his Monkey Liquor, but also humiliated him in public. This isn’t something that the arrogant Ming Jianxin can tolerate.

Kching!

Ming Jianxin drew his sword. When they saw that, the onlookers felt their hearts jump into their throats.

Seeing as this is a battle of vastly unequal strengths, the onlookers could only look at Fang Yi sympathetically.

“Stop!”

Suddenly, a resonant voice sounded.

The crowd parted instantly. Su Mingyue walked over slowly.

The onlookers were obviously surprised, unable to understand why she suddenly jumped out.

While ignoring everyone’s gazes, Su Mingyue glanced at Fang Yi and then said, “Ming Jianxin, are you trying to bully a disciple of the Green Cloud Peak again?”

Su Mingyue completely disregarded the reason behind this situation and directly escalated things to a fight between the three peaks, evidently sticking up for Fang Yi.

She and Fang Yi belong to the Green Cloud Peak, while Ming Jianxin belongs to the Unity Cloud Peak. So her butting in is justified.

“Su Mingyue, you… you want to stick up for this guy?”

Ming Jianxin didn’t seem to believe that the woman of his dreams, whom he had been pursuing persistently, would confront him because of a nobody. This made him feel humiliated. Could it be that in Su Mingyue’s heart, he can’t compare to this guy?

He didn’t think this had anything to do with the fight between the three peaks. This was just an excuse.

The onlookers didn’t seem to think it, either.

This is big news.

In the outer sect, there’s no one who doesn’t know that Ming Jianxin has been interested in Su Mingyue for a long time. But he hasn’t been able to woo her until now.

And now Su Mingyue offended Ming Jianxin for Fang Yi’s sake.

Does that mean that Fang Yi is Su Mingyue’s prince charming?

When this popped into their minds, the onlookers couldn’t help looking at Fang Yi. They saw that he had a slight smile on his face all along. Despite facing Ming Jianxin, he doesn’t seem to be scared at all. Did he know Su Mingyue would stand up for him?

At this moment, the onlookers felt like their brains have short-circuited. This seems to be completely impossible, yet is quite likely true.

“As a member of the Green Cloud Peak, I won’t watch from the sidelines as you bully a disciple of our Green Cloud Peak.”

Su Mingyue stated thusly.

Upon hearing this, Ming Jianxin’s face twisted slightly, feeling anguished in his heart.

“Very well! Su Mingyue, I will give you face today.”

Ming Jianxin stopped in the end, but his expression was unsightly.

“Boy, you were lucky today. However, you can’t hide behind a woman’s skirt for the rest of your life.”

Ming Jianxin glared at Fang Yi before leaving.

The crowd of onlookers gradually dispersed. At the same time, hushed tones came from them, clearly discussing the relationship between Fang Yi and Su Mingyue.

Fang Yi smiled and glanced at Su Mingyue.

“Thank you for helping me.”

Su Mingyue smiled back, “Don’t mention it. Even if I hadn’t stepped in, you would still be able to resolve it yourself.”

“Nevertheless, you did stand up for me.”

Su Mingyue smiled and said, “Although Ming Jianxin is arrogant, but he isn’t a despicable character. His actions weren’t without reason.”

“It suddenly feels like you didn’t step in to help me, but to help him.”

Fang Yi spoke with a smile.

Su Mingyue didn’t deny it, but rather smiled bitterly.

“With Ming Jianxin’s character, he will surely go after you in the future. Can you give me face and spare him?”

“Why should I? Give me a reason.”

Fang Yi said flatly. But in his heart, an unexpected thought rose — was she actually moved by Ming Jianxin’s pursuit of her? But it doesn’t seem to be the case.

“In fact, I and him are engaged. When I was little, my family owed his family a favor, which resulted in this engagement. When I grew up, I felt that we aren’t compatible. Due to various reasons, however, the engagement hasn’t been dissolved.”

“Besides, our mothers are close friends. I don’t want to hurt aunty.”

When Su Mingyue finished speaking, she looked at Fang Yi. Her expression seemed to convey — is this reason enough.

“Fine! Since you told me sincerely.”

Fang Yi doesn’t care about Ming Jianxin.

As Su Mingyue said, apart from being arrogant, this guy hasn’t committed any despicable deeds.

Sparing him isn’t a big deal. Fang Yi isn’t a bloodthirsty person.

“Thank you!” Su Mingyue expressed her thanks.

“By the way, will you go to the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain in three days and participate in the suppression mission?”

“Ten Thousand Jun Mountain?”

Fang Yi frowned. He has been cultivating in seclusion and knows nothing about it.

Su Mingyue promptly explained the matter of the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain.

Fang Yi couldn’t help feeling a little agitated when he learned that the three great sects were going to jointly dispatch disciples to the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain.

In Qinghe County, there are three great sects, namely the Taixuan Sect, the Lieyan Sect, and the Wanjian Gate.

Apart from the Taixuan Gate, Fang Yi basically knows nothing about the other two sects. Although a number of disciples from the Fang Family have joined the two sects. But seeing as Fang Yi wasn’t liked in the family, no one had told him anything about them.

It’s a pity, but only disciples who have reached the 8th layer Spiritual Sea may participate in the suppression of the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain. It seems that he has no chance of going.

In the evening, what happened outside the Pill Vault made rounds in the outer sect.

Theories regarding the relationship between Fang Yi and Su Mingyue emerge in endless succession.

Even Fatty nearly believed it. When he came back, he pestered Fang Yi with questions.

Fang Yi could only shake his head and smile bitterly.

At this time, Zhao Mingde ran over.

Zhao Mingde and Fatty have become fairly close ever since the Life-Death Platform incident.

As for Fang Yi, since he spent a month in the Qingxuan Secret Realm, he hasn’t seen the other party many times.

“Fang Yi, the list of disciples that will be dispatched to the Ten Thousand Jun Mountain has come out. Your name is on it.”

As soon as he entered through the door, Zhao Mingde hurriedly uttered this.

“What? Fang Yi’s name? Isn’t it limited to powerhouses who are at the 8th layer Spiritual Sea at the least? Isn’t Fang Yi’s cultivation insufficient?”

Fatty spoke in surprise, then looked at Fang Yi suspiciously.

What cultivation base this guy has reached, he isn’t too sure. Has this guy really reached the 8th layer Spiritual Sea?

Zhao Mingde isn’t sure either.

“What are you two thinking? I’m still far away from the 8th layer Spiritual Sea!”

Fang Yi naturally guessed their thoughts. He quickly smiled and denied it.

He was filled with doubt. Although he wanted to go, but the conditions under which the opportunity has presented itself to him are strange.

He had no choice but to be extra careful.

Subconsciously, Fang Yi thought of Elder Qin. This appears to be the only explanation.

Temple of Creation – 45

45 – Stop Right There

Fang Yi naturally knew nothing of this.

He probably would never have dreamed that the fact that Ancestor Qingshan summoned him was akin to an invisible amulet that made others apprehensive about messing with him.

For the next two days, Fang Yi kept cultivating in seclusion.

On one hand, he wants to improve his strength as soon as possible; on the other hand, he wants to lie low and wait for Elder Qin’s response.

Although, reason is on his side. Nevertheless, it is true that he crippled Qin Bufan.

Yet, to Fang Yi’s surprise, no one came to bother him.

Things were calm as if nothing had happened.

This made Fang Yi a little curious. At the same time, it made him more vigilant.

Elder Qin hid this matter from the public, not to let Fang Yi off the hook, but to have others not suspect him if something were to happen to Fang Yi in the future. This is all in order to deal with Fang Yi in secret.

Fang Yi was relieved when he realized this.

In fact, he was afraid that the other party would shed all pretenses of cordiality and, in spite of his identity, avenge Qin Bufan.

If that were the case, Fang Yi was absolutely no match for the other party.

But if the other party uses secret ploys, he won’t be as worried.

So long as he acts carefully and doesn’t give the other party any chances, then Elder Qin won’t be able to do anything to him.

Furthermore, with his cultivation speed, he believes that he won’t have to fear the other party after a short period of time.

By then…

If Elder Qi dares to mess with him, he won’t mind sending the other party to the afterlife.

By realizing this point, Fang Yi became a lot more relaxed.

After checking the bit of Monkey Liquor left in the storage ring, he couldn’t help frowning.

These days, he drank Monkey Liquor and cultivated every day. Seeing as the Monkey Liquor is about to run out, he has no choice but to look for an alternative.

Moreover, he wants to keep some Monkey Liquor. After all, it is Old Drunkard’s weakness.

It seems that it’s time to go to the Pill Vault.

Having made up his mind, Fang Yi got up and headed in the direction of the Pill Vault.

Although two days have passed, Ji Wuxian’s name was still the hottest topic in the outer sect. No matter where you go, it can’t be avoided.

“Let me tell you, it is said that Ji Wuxian’s comprehension of the 11th layer of the Tidal Art is related to another person.”

“No way! Except for her, no one else in the Taixuan Sect can comprehend the 11th layer of the Tidal Art. So who was able to help her?”

“I can’t believe it, either. Who is that person? If he is so amazing, then how come he hasn’t comprehended the 11th layer of the Tidal Art himself?”

“I also don’t know who it is. I only heard that that person left a piece of paper. When Ji Wuxian saw it, she entered a state of enlightenment and then comprehended the 11th layer of the Tidal Art.”

  ……

Such conversations entered Fang Yi’s ears, making him shake his head.

It seems that the disturbance caused by Ji Wuxian this time was really great, giving rise to various theories and opinions.

In another few days, maybe mentions of a Taixuan Immortal appearing in a dream will rise.

Fang Yi naturally paid this gossip no attention.

When he came to the Pill Vault, Fang Yi began to examine the pills.

The Taixuan Sect isn’t expert at concocting pills, so there aren’t many kinds of pills here.

It is said that in Linjian County, which is near Qinghe County, there is a sect expert at concocting pills. It is called Shendan Sect. Its pills are on a whole other level in terms of variety and effect.

However, Fang Yi has never been there.

Qinghe County has twelve cities under its jurisdiction and has an extremely wide surface area.

Apart from Qingshui City, where the Fang Family is located, Fang Yi has never been to the other eleven cities, let alone the distant Linjian County.

The pills of the Taixuan Sect are chiefly cultivation and healing pills.

Among the cultivation pills, Qi Gathering Pills are the most ordinary and the most widely used in the outer sect.

However, Qi Gathering Pills already have little effect on Fang Yi.

Above Qi Gathering Pills, there are Nourishing Pills. They are the reason why Fang Yi has come here today.

Fang Yi couldn’t help frowning when he arrived in front of the Nourishing Pills and saw the price.

A single Spirit Nourishing Pill requires 500 sect contribution points to be redeemed, while a bottle requires 5,000.

This isn’t something that ordinary disciples can afford.

Fang Yi can be said to have gained a lot during this period of time. Coupled with the contribution points rewarded during the cultivation test, he now has 20,000 contribution points. If he exchanges them for Nourishing Pills, he can only redeem four bottles, for a total of 40 pills.

Even if he just consumes one pill per day, they will only last him 40 days.

However, with Fang Yi’s cultivation speed, two pills per day may not be enough.

Furthermore, as his strength rises, the amount of pills he will need to consume is bound to grow.

By then…

Fang Yi couldn’t help but smile bitterly. If only he knew alchemy.

Pills are of great importance when it comes to cultivation. If he knew alchemy, it would be of great help to him.

Fang Yi made up his mind to learn alchemy when he has time.

Fang Yi gritted his teeth and finally redeemed four bottles of Nourishing Pills, and then left the Pill Vault.

Fortunately, he got the Nine Layer Waves from Qi Yunfei, or else his contribution points would be stretched thin.

“Fang Yi, stop right there.”

Not far from the Pill Vault, Fang Yi heard someone shout.

He looked up and saw Ming Jianxin.

Fang Yi was stunned, thinking — what does this guy want from me? Does he know that I took the Monkey Liquor?

Although he was taken aback, but he still asked calmly, “What’s the matter?”

“Humph!”

Ming Jianxin snorted coldly, his face contorted in anger.

“Fang Yi, I misjudged you. You’re really brave. You actually dared to steal my Monkey Liquor.”

At this time, a crowd slowly formed around them. Upon hearing Ming Jianxin’s words, people couldn’t help but be curious.

Fang Yi stole Ming Jianxin’s Monkey Liquor? With his strength, how is that even possible?

However, since this came from Ming Jianxin, they couldn’t help believing it.

“You claim I stole your Monkey Liquor, but do you have any proof?” Fang Yi replied calmly.

“Humph! Proof? The proof is in your storage ring. Do you dare to let everyone take a look?” Ming Jianxin sneered.

Fang Yi was startled. The other party clearly knows something.

Although it’s not really a secret, but few people know that he has Monkey Liquor.

In fact, only Ancestor Qingshan, Liu Suifeng, and Old Drunkard have knowledge of this.

How did Ming Jianxin learn of this?

With his status, there’s no way Ancestor Qingshan would cross paths with Ming Jianxin.

Then what about Liu Suifeng? It seems unlikely. However, Fang Yi isn’t sure whether this guy is a friend or a foe.

As for Old Drunkard, he always has a liquor jar in hand. If he was seen drinking Monkey Liquor, Fang Yi wouldn’t be surprised. However, if you say that Old Drunkard sold him out, Fang Yi would never believe that.

“What? You don’t dare? You have the guts to do the act, yet not to admit it?”

Seeing as Fang Yi took his time answering, Ming Jianxin’s expression gradually became gloomy.

“He-he!” Fang Yi laughed.

At this moment, he can still laugh? Everyone present broke out in a cold sweat in his stead.

Ming Jianxin is not someone to be provoked.

If Fang Yi can’t prove his innocence, he might have an extremely tragic end.
